I need some help and do not know where to turn. I had prepaid for my entire dental implant procedure, which the dentist required. It was for the implant supported dentures. He’d placed the implants and I’ve been in temporary teeth for a while now. However, I just found out my dentist lost his license. So, what do I do now?

Dear Elena,
I am sorry this happened to you. I’m sure you are frustrated. The first thing I would do is see if he sold his practice. He probably did in order to get some money to live on. He’s going to need some way to support himself. If that is the case, whoever bought the practice also bought his client contracts and has to finish any unfinished procedures for patients. So, the new dentist would have to complete whatever your dentist did not.
If that is not a possibility for you, then I would call the dental board in your area. This has to have been a situation they’ve encountered before and they can tell you the right procedure for you. They will be able to advise you.
You did not mention why this dentist lost his license. If you have any concerns, then you may want to have another dentist look at your dental implants to make sure everything is in good condition. This way you don’t have the permanent teeth done only to have to end up with a problem with the dental implants themselves.
I’m not saying that to panic you. It’s very likely that your dental implants are perfectly fine. As a means of an overabundance of caution, it may give you some peace of mind to have them checked.
