“Helping patients work past previous traumatic dental experiences and achieve their ultimate dental goals is one of the things I find most satisfying in dentistry.”
Born in southern California, Dr. Vu spent her early elementary years in Los Angeles. When she was just seven years old, her parents moved her family to Morgantown, West Virginia so they both could attend WVU dental school.
After graduation, they relocated their family one more time to Houston, TX, where they opened a dental practice. Stephanie spent the remainder of her high school years there and then attended UT at Austin for college.
Growing up, Stephanie loved working with her hands, but she also wanted to be in a health field in order to help people. Dentistry was the perfect blend. After graduation from UT at Austin, she moved to Louisiana to attend LSU Health Science Center School of Dentistry.
She met her husband, Matthew Oubre, while attending dental school. He is a practicing orthodontist at his father’s practice. They have one son, Allen, and are expecting their second child in August, 2021. They also have a pet corgi, Gizmo, who they consider their third child.
Prevention is the key to her treatment plans. “That is why I believe in educating patients so they can make informed decisions in their day-to-day choices with their oral health,” said Dr. Vu. She hopes, then that that knowledge and those healthy practices will be shared with family and friends and passed along.
