Dr. Joseph Porter, a Baton Rouge native, received his bachelor of science degree in biology from Southeastern Louisiana University. He earned his doctorate of dental surgery degree from the LSU School of Dentistry. While at the LSU School of Dentistry, he was honored to receive the prestigious Baldridge Scholarship, the General Dentistry Award, the Prosthetics Award, and the Diagnosis of Oral-Facial Pain Award.
Additionally, Dr. Porter earned an advanced degree in family dentistry. He is an accredited orthodontist—a dental specialist who has completed an advanced post-doctoral course, accredited by the American Dental Association. Accreditation requires at least two academic years in the specialty of orthodontics.

Why Dr. Porter Enjoys Being an Orthodontist
Being an orthodontist allows Dr. Porter to form close relationships with his patients. It is satisfying to see a patient’s teeth and smile transformed and their self-esteem increase during the process. His favorite part of providing orthodontic treatments is the big reveal when the braces come off.
Dr. Porter has a fiancée who is a real estate broker and a daughter majoring in nursing. They also have a Poowawa named Bentley. In his leisure time, Dr. Porter enjoys going to the gym, hunting, boating, and spending time with family.
