My Teeth Don’t Match After Veneers

Posted by writeradmin

I had four porcelain veneers and I really like them. The problem I have is that the teeth next to them do not match the veneers. Is there any way that I can whiten those teeth without damaging the porcelain veneers? I can’t afford to get more veneers right now.

Dear Seinna,

Teeth Bleaching trays

I am glad you wrote. Though I am glad you like the four porcelain veneers that your dentist provided for you, I am not impressed with how he handled your case. Four veneers are not enough to cover most smiles. That doesn’t mean you have to get more. Most of the time people do not get enough to cover their entire aesthetic zone. But, there is an established procedure for that scenario.

Your dentist should have had you whiten your teeth before you had your veneers done. This way your adjacent teeth can blend in. My guess is that there is also a big discrepancy between your top arch and your bottom arch as well. You don’t want it obvious that there is a difference in the bottom verses the top teeth in color. When there is, it has the result of making the top arch look fake.

The good news is that it is not too late to fix this. You can still whiten them. While teeth whitening will not damage your porcelain veneers, I suggest you have your dentist custom design your teeth bleaching trays to go around your veneers. That way you don’t have to worry about them at all.

I’d simply bleach your teeth until they are close to the color of your veneers. You don’t have to get them exact. Just close. This is because your teeth will continue to whiten for a couple of weeks after you stop using the bleaching trays.
