What Is the Best Material for a Dental Implant?

Posted by writeradmin

I need to get two dental implants on teeth that are near my front teeth. I want them to look good so I am worried about the crowns looking good as well as making sure the implants aren’t too visible underneath. I also want to make sure I have the best implants. I was thinking about Astra Implants from the U.K. Do you like those?

Dear Louise,

I appreciate that you are trying to do some research for this. That is smart. My concern is that you are asking the wrong questions. I’m going to use two analogies to help you understand what I mean.

First, regarding the dental implant material. If you were having surgery, which you will be with dental implants, you would not be asking what is the best scappel. Instead, you would want the best surgeon. They have the training and would know which materials are best for the procedure that you need. It is important that you find the right dentist to do your dental implants, one with post doctoral training. There are way too many dental implant horror stories for you to risk going to a dentist without the right training.

As for making the crowns look good, that operates on a similar principle. If you commission two artists to do the same painting and give them the same materials, the results will NOT be the same. The artists have different skill levels. Cosmetic dentistry is an art. So, in addition to finding a dentist who has dental implant training, you will want one with artistic skills in cosmetic dental work. I would ask to see some example photos of dental crowns they’ve done. Also, they need to be willing to place them in with a temporary try-in paste so you can make sure they match the adjacent teeth and you are happy with how they look. If you aren’t, then they should be willing to redo the crown.
