Theriot Family Dental

Frequent Questions

Here are some questions we frequently get from patients:

Are you accepting new patients? Many practices reach capacity and stop taking new clients.

Yes, we are. While we are busy, we always have room for new patients.

What are your credentials and experience?

Dr. Theriot has been practicing since 2002. He completes post-graduate training at twice the rate required by the Louisiana Dental Board, and has earned a couple of advanced credentials:

  • Fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists
  • Advanced training in conscious sedation, recognized by the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation

Is teeth whitening safe?

There have been reports of damage to teeth from over-the-counter teeth whitening products. However, we are not aware of any adverse effects to properly administered in-office tooth whitening procedures. We offer both in-office and take-home teeth whitening options, both of which have a perfect safety record in our office.

At what age should my child first see a dentist?

We believe it is best to bring in your child soon after baby teeth begin to erupt, but for sure by the time they are two or three. Not only is this important for finding problems, but also for establishing healthy dental habits for your child. If you wait until your child has a problem before introducing him or her to the dentist, it carries a risk of conditioning a child to associate dentistry with pain or trouble.
